In a bid to enhance the travel experience for the common man, Indian Railways is preparing to unveil a new affordable non-AC train that incorporates several features of the highly acclaimed Vande Bharat Express. While the official name for the train is yet to be decided, it is anticipated that the new train will offer upgraded second class unreserved and second class 3-tier sleeper coaches, emulating the comfort and convenience of the Vande Bharat Express trains. The move comes as part of Indian Railways' commitment to making train travel accessible and enjoyable for all passengers, regardless of their budget.

However, it will feature locomotives at both ends, harnessing the push-pull technology to ensure faster acceleration and smoother journeys. This innovative design will eliminate the need for locomotive reversal at terminating stations, reducing turnaround times and enhancing overall operational efficiency.

Comprising a total of 22 coaches, the new LHB (Linke-Hofmann-Busch) train will include 2 second luggage, guard, and divyaang-friendly coaches, along with 8 second class unreserved coaches and 12 second class 3-tier sleeper coaches. Notably, all coaches will be non-air-conditioned, catering specifically to the needs of the common man.

To bring this ambitious project to life, the Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) has been entrusted with the manufacturing of locomotives, while the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, the sole factory currently producing Vande Bharat Express trains, will be responsible for constructing the train coaches. By combining the expertise of these renowned establishments, Indian Railways aims to deliver a high-quality and reliable train for the masses.

Railway officials have disclosed that the prototype of this new train is expected to be unveiled by the end of this year, with an ambitious target set by the Railway Board for an October launch. The introduction of this train marks a significant advancement in Indian Railways' ongoing efforts to improve passenger amenities and comfort, building upon the success of previous initiatives like the Antyodaya Express introduced in 2017.

With the incorporation of prominent features from the Vande Bharat Express, this new train is poised to elevate the travel experience for the common man to a whole new level. As the Indian Railways continues to modernize its services and infrastructure, passengers can eagerly anticipate a more enjoyable and affordable journey across the country's vast rail network.

As the countdown begins for the grand unveiling, the nation eagerly awaits the arrival of this new train, which promises to redefine rail travel for the common man and enhance the pride of India's esteemed railway system.
